Winter School of Truth 2019

This year the Winter School of Truth will again take place in three locations. Praise the Lord for His expansion in Europe!

Each country will attend one of the three locations. The WST United Kingdom will take young people from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Greece and Romania. The WST Netherlands will host young people from the countries of Western and Central Europe, including the Nordic countries. The young people from Spain and Portugal will attend the WST Iberian Peninsula in Spain. Please see the table below for details.

Introduction
The Winter School of Truth United Kingdom this year will take young people from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Greece and Romania. It will run from 2pm on Thursday, 26th December 2019 to 14:00 on Tuesday 31 December 2019. All young people will cover the same subject:  Lesson Book Five – The Church-The Vision and Building Up of the Church. The cost will be £120, which will include accommodation, activities and meals for the duration of the truth school. There will be an additional cost for the lesson book if you do not already have it. This can be purchased as part of the registration process.

Serving ones and Helpers

Regarding serving at WST UK: If you are considering to come to the WST UK this year as a helper or serving one and have NOT gone through the church in London safeguarding approval process, please go to safeguarding.churchinlondon.org.uk and complete an application form for “Young People’s Conference Serving One” as soon as possible.  Please do not wait for registration to start this process, as it can take up to 6 weeks to complete. Arrival and Departure
You can check in and collect your materials from 14:00 onwards on the first day of the Truth School, so eat lunch before coming or bring a packed lunch with you. The first meeting will be at 16:00. There will be a serving ones’ meeting .

The first meal provided by the Truth School will be dinner on Thursday, 26th December and the last meal will be lunch on Tuesday, 31st December. Meals and accommodation outside the above times will not be available, and so will need to be arranged privately.

Bedding
A duvet, a pillow and bed linen are provided by the facility, you will have to bring toiletries and a towel.

Health
For those travelling from within the European Union, please ensure you bring a valid EHIC card. If you are not eligible for the EHIC card, please ensure you have travel insurance.

Transport
As much as possible, please do your best to arrange transport in a way that causes the least disruption to the Truth School – for example, not arriving later than the start of the school or leaving before it has finished.

Payment
Payment this year will take place online only either via a Paypal account or by credit or debit (bank) card. We will not accept cash or cheques. Please note that your payment will be made directly to the truth school account and that coordinators will not collect payments. All payments need to be in by the deadline of 2nd December. The cost of the lesson materials will be added automatically to the total during the payment process.

Registration
To register, please fill in and submit the online registration form and make payment by the deadline of 2 December 2019. Registration will take place on a first-come-first-served basis and due to the space available there will be a limit to the number who will be able to attend. Once the limit is reached, you will be added to the waiting list.

There is a coordinator in each country (or in the UK, in each region) who is responsible for the registrations and who you can contact if you have any questions. He or she automatically receives your information when you register online. To find out who your coordinator is, please refer to the list of country coordinators.

Applications after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list and only accepted in the event of a cancellation except in exceptional circumstances. A late registration fee of £30 / 35€ will also apply.

Cancellations after 2 December will be charged a £30 / 35€ cancellation fee. Cancellations after 10 December will be charged the full price and no refund will be given without reasonable grounds (eg. sudden illness).

General Information
The WST Netherlands will take place this year in Someren close to Eindhoven in the Netherlands. It will receive the young people who speak French, German, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Norwegian/Swedish, Czech/Slovak, Russian and Croatian. There will be groups and translation into these languages only. There will probably not be groups in English. If you live in one of the above-mentioned countries but do not speak one of these languages, you should register for WST United Kingdom or WST Iberian Peninsula instead.

The WST Netherlands will run from 13:30 on Thursday, 26th December to 12:00 on Tuesday, 31st December 2019. There will be two classes as in previous years, a younger one for young people aged 11-14, and an older one for young people aged 15-18. Both classes will cover the same subject:  Lesson Book Five – The Church-The Vision and Building Up of the Church. The cost will be €125 and will include accommodation, activities and meals. There will be an additional cost for the handbook which will vary depending on language.

If you are unable to arrive or leave exactly on the day the school begins or ends, please contact your coordinator in order to arrange local hospitality for the additional night(s). Unfortunately, it is not possible to stay at the site outside of the school dates.

Bedding
Only a bed and pillow are provided by the facility. We recommend bringing your own pillowcase, sleeping bag and fitted sheet. If you wish to rent a linen set (pillowcase + duvet + fitted sheet), the cost is 10 €. There are no towels available, you must bring your own.

If you wish to rent bedding, you must select this beforehand on your registration form. It will not be possible to rent them when you arrive.

Health

Translation
The messages will be (mostly) given in English and simultaneously translated into French, German, Dutch, Italian, and Polish. Each language group is responsible for providing its own translation. If you require translation, please bring your own FM radio, headphones and supply of batteries. Group times will be in the young people’s own language.

All payments must be made electronically to the account below (with the exception of Poland). You can pay either via PayPal or by online transfer. We cannot accept cash or cheques. Please note that your payment will be made directly to the truth school account and that coordinators will not collect payments. All payments need to be in by the deadline of 2 December 2019.

Please Note! We do NOT automatically send out a confirmation of payment. If you do not hear from us, you can be assured that your payment has been received. If there are any issues with your payment, your coordinator will contact you.

The cost of the lesson book or handbook will be automatically added to the total during the payment process. This varies according to language.
