Winter School of Truth 2024 – Netherlands

This year the Winter School of Truth will take place in five different locations.

Each country will attend one of the five locations. The WST United Kingdom will take young people from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Romania. The WST Netherlands will host young people from the countries of Western and Central Europe, including the Nordic countries. The young people from Spain and Portugal will attend the WST Iberian Peninsula in Spain. Please see the table below for details.

General Information
The WST Netherlands will take place this year in Someren close to Eindhoven in the Netherlands. It will receive the young people who speak Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Norwegian/Swedish, Czech/Slovak, Serbo-Croatian and Russian. There will be groups and translation into these languages only.

The WST Netherlands will run from 13:30 on Thursday, 26th December to 12:00 on Tuesday, 31th December 2023. There will be two classes as in previous years, a younger one for young people aged 11-14, and an older one for young people aged 15-18. Both classes will cover the same subject: Lesson Book Four Life – Knowing and Experiencing Life.. The cost will be €180 and will include accommodation, activities and meals. There will be an additional cost for the Lesson Book which will vary depending on language.

Arrival and Departure
The first meal provided by the Truth School will be dinner on Thursday, 26th December and the last meal will be lunch on Tuesday, 31st December. You can check in and collect your materials from 13:30 onwards on the first day of the Truth School, so eat lunch before coming or bring a packed lunch with you. The first meeting will be at 16:00. There will be a serving ones’ meeting from 14:00 to 15:00.

If you are unable to arrive or leave exactly on the day the school begins or ends, please contact your coordinator in order to arrange local hospitality for the additional night(s).

Transport
As much as possible please do your best to arrange transport in a way that causes the least disruption to the Truth School – for example not arriving later than the start of the school or leaving before it has finished.

Bedding
Only a bed and pillow are provided by the facility. We recommend bringing your own pillowcase, sleeping bag and fitted sheet. If you wish to rent a linen set (pillowcase + duvet + fitted sheet), the cost is 15 EUR. There are no towels available, you must bring your own. If you wish to rent bedding, you must select this beforehand on your registration form. It will not be possible to rent them when you arrive. Only 100 sets will be available, please only select this option if you cannot bring your own (for example you are travelling by plane or public transport).

Health
Please ensure you bring a valid EHIC card. If you are not eligible for the EHIC card, please ensure you have travel insurance.

Translation
The messages will be given in English and simultaneously translated into Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Slovak, Serbo-Croatian and Russian. Each language group is responsible for providing its own translation. If you require translation, please bring your own FM radio, headphones and supply of batteries. Group times will be in the young people’s own language.

Payment
All payments must be made electronically via PayPal to the account below (with the exception of Poland). We cannot accept cash or cheques.

Please Note! We do NOT automatically send out a confirmation of payment. If you do not hear from us, you can be assured that your payment has been received. If there are any issues with your payment, your coordinator will contact you. The cost of the lesson book or handbook will be automatically added to the total during the payment process. This varies according to language.

Registration
To register, please fill in and submit the online registration form and make payment by the deadline of 25. November 2024.

There is a coordinator in each country who is responsible for registrations and whom you can contact if you have any questions. He or she automatically receives your information when you register online. To find out who your coordinator is, please refer to the list of country coordinators.

Registration will close on 25th November 2024 at midnight (GMT). Any registrations after this date will be placed on a waiting list and approved on a case-by-case basis and if capacity of the venue allows.
A late registration fee of 35€ will also apply. Cancellations after 2nd December 2024 will be subject to a cancellation fee of 35€. There is no refund for cancellations after 15th December 2024. Please see the Truth School announcement for more information.
